Skin Correction, skin tags

What is a skin tag?

Skin tags are harmless little skin growths that stick out like a small, soft, teardrop shape. They’re very common and can be whisked away quickly, easily and comfortably.

They are usually found in skin folds of the neck, armpits, torso, beneath the breasts or groin and can vary quite a bit in appearance. They can be smooth or irregular, flesh coloured or deeply pigmented, raised above the surrounding skin or have a stalk so that the skin tag hangs from the skin and they can range in size from 1mm to 1cm.

As you get older, you are more likely to develop a skin tag. They are particularly common in women over 60, obese people, people with diabetes and in pregnant women. They are completely harmless, but can be irritated by clothing and jewelery and by where they are positioned e.g. on the collar.

Your therapist will quickly and easily remove a skin tag in seconds with one swift movement of the Apiderme probe. You won’t feel any pain or sting - sometimes a slight amount of heat – and the results are instant. There might be a tiny scab but it will fall off naturally after a few days.

Skin correction, Milla removal

What are millia / whiteheads?

Millia or whiteheads are deeply seeded white bumps that form when skin cells and other debris become trapped in your skin and cannot exfoliate naturally. You can get them anywhere, but they usually form around the eyes and cheeks. In combination with bacteria, whiteheads can cause acne and in severe cases lead to cystic acne.

The most common cause of whiteheads is using skin care products that are either too heavy, not suited for your skin type or are of poor quality. You can also get them when you get too much sun and develop thicker skin with more blockages. Alternatively, some people just have the type of skin which can’t exfoliate itself properly.

Here at Rouge the therapist will insert the tip of a sterile Apiderme probe just inside the edge of the whitehead. Sometimes it will pop out at this stage, if the whitehead has not been there a long time and is still soft and liquid. Otherwise a tiny electrical current is used to liquefy the hard oil trapped in the skin. The results are usually instant and permanent.

Skin correction, Red vein treatment

What are broken or spider veins?

Broken veins, or spider veins, are tiny veins just under the skin that look like a sunburst, a spider web or just red dots that can be flat or raised on the skin. They can also appear as short, unconnected lines and many people have them. Although they’re not dangerous, you may want to talk to the skincare expert here at Rouge beauty salon who can sort them out quickly and comfortably for you.

Spider veins are usually caused by a blend of genetics, the upsurge in hormones at puberty, birth control pills, pregnancy and hormone replacement therapy. Also, the older you are and the more sun damage you have had over your lifetime, the more likely you are to get them.

A lot of Irish women get spider veins on their face due to exposure to windy conditions and weather extremes and because they have more fragile and delicate facial skin.

Apiderme treats visible red capillaries and red dots (anginoma) by placing a small, disposable probe at the end of the capillary line and releasing a tiny amount of electrical current for a few thousandths of a second to create heat. This coagulates the blood causing it to be re absorbed by the skin. This is a new method for the removal of skin imperfections and it’s really comfortable thanks to the speed and efficiency of the treatment. The results are instant.
